Intrusive Thoughts : There’s Nothing Wrong with Your Mind



As human beings, we sometimes spend our time thinking about what will happen in the future, what if everything would be out of our control, and some kind of thing that makes us feel uncomfortable or overstressed just because thinking about how, what, when, or other questions that will drain your energy. Well, I think other people ever do so, because we know that our brain will always do their task of reacting to the impulses from out of our body.

However, sometimes those thoughts would be too over and super disturbing. These can be more stressed out because they are usually stuck in your mind. They can seem to come out of nowhere and end up with you being so exhausted, scarier is causing anxiety and other mental health symptoms. The content of these intrusive thoughts often focuses on sexual or violent or socially unacceptable images, and less self-improvement. No wonder this can lead you to the fearness that what appeared on your mind was totally abnormal and terrible

Intrusive thoughts sometimes can be harmless. However, if you start to become more obsessed with it and your thoughts can interrupt your daily activities, please be more aware that it could be a sign of mental health problems, such as anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or even depression. 

So, how can we deal with it?

  1. Knowing that what happened to you is an ‘intrusive thoughts

  2. Don’t blame yourself because of what appeared on your mind, it is not up to you, it is automatically

  3. Don’t push them away. It is really a normal thing to have a lot of circumstances on your mind

  4. Take care of yourself: start with basic things, e.g. exercise, eating, and sleeping well

  5. Labeled yourself as a normal human being

Well, I know it’s not easy to be just careless and ignore those thoughts, likely easy to say, but hard to do. But then again, it’s crucial to be more aware that every time you start thinking and they won’t go away, it might be what they call ‘intrusive thoughts’. Try to reach professional help immediately if you feel you need help. Stop thinking that you are different from others. You are just the same living thing, but in a different way as a human being.
